The general session Monday was a bit of a disappointment.  Some good information, but the delivery was less than stellar.  With a few exceptions, the guest speakers seemed to struggle, almost giving the impression that there were issues with the tele prompters.  At one point two IBM'ers were doing a tag team demo, and using horrible puns around Quickr, the Cloud and Sametime. The guy next to me looked over with a pained expression and said...

"please make them stop...please".

Vulcan was announced giving a quick peek at the new versions of Notes that are in the works. That being said, Lotusphere of late never seems to have recaptured the energy of the 1990's, for those of us who remember that time.

A question that kept coming up is how the Quickr Next announcements will impact DLI and Docova.  In fact,  althought they will enhance the product, IBM confirmed that Quickr will never become a full blown document mgt solution.  I was amused to hear applause for the light box feature, which eliminates the complete screen refreshes when doing things like setting up new folders.

We are working with IBM at this time to build a connector to Quickr, so that should help a lot as customers that have Quickr and wish to use it for collaboration and leverage Docova for workflow and more advanced features.

IBM announced a Quickr connector for Alfresco, an open source EDMS.  Still trying to determine where Alfresco fits in the mix.  It could be that IBM would rather have customers not happy with the IBM alternatives switch to Alfresco vs Microsoft. Having them move to Docova and staying on Domino to me is a much better alternative.

We showed our Blackberry interface for Docova.  This allows you to query the Docova libraries, locate documents, and view them on your Blackberry. Very cool!!
